“Until one is committed, there is hesitancy, the chance to draw back, always ineffectiveness..." (William Hutchinson Murray)
I read this quote several years ago and it is one that has stuck with me. It remains one of my favorite quotes because it is so true. Until we "actually" commit ourselves, there will be hesitancy, ineffectiveness, and the opportunity to walk away at the first sign of failure.
My hope is that this little challenge will provide an opportunity for all of us to commit ourselves to becoming healthier. Although there will only be one or two winners; as long as we all lose weight, there will be no failing.
Below is a list of people who are confirmed and hopefully committed!
- Jon Stodola
- Krissy Stodola
- Rolf Bergerson
- Jan Bergerson
- Linda Mazzuco
- Tom Stodola
- Heidi Stodola
- Jenny Oien
- Lynn McMahon

Once the competition begins, I encourage people to use this comment area as a place to post successes and struggles.
So far so good - 1 point for me. Talk about committed, I even gave away the rest of my ice cream cake. I must be going crazy!
OK, so I lost my new pedometer in the Kohl's dressing room on Saturday night. Only a minor setback, though - I picked up a new one today, but AFTER I had walked all over the Mall of America. So I have zero points today. My goal is to walk 10,000 steps every day!
Tomorrow will be better!
Heidi
Jon and I both have 3 points - we have been going to the gym every morning. How are the rest of you doing?
Rolf has 11 points for the first week and Jan has 11 points for the first week.
Is it legal for Jan to get up at 4:00 AM on Sunday and start to spit in a can? This not fun to watch, I vote to ban spitting.
Tommy got 6 points for week 1 - all workout/walking points. No pounds lost or gained.
Heidi got 5 points for week 1: 4 for walking and 1 pound lost!
We're hoping to keep improving our eating habits and get Heidi more workout/walking points during week 2!
We hear some people lost 4 or 6 pounds - WAY TO GO!!!
